Back in London!

So I'm back from my month in the sunshine.  I can't believe it's over and I'm back already but I guess it's true what they say.....time really does fly when you are having fun!

Anyways whilst I'm getting over my jet lag here are a few of the illustrations i did that appeared in Amelia's Magazine whilst I was away.

This illustration is for a review on the singer Alex Winston . To see the full review written by the lovely Helen Martin then just click here.

This illustration is again for a review written my Helen Martin for Amelia's Magazine on the band Religious to Damn.  For full review click here.

I have a few more illustrations to post but I will do this tomorrow as I have been up since 4.30am and the jet-lag is starting to take hold of me!

Cent Magazine Philosophy Illustration

©gemmasmithdesign.com

I recently got asked to do an illustration to be featured on Cent Magazine's Philosophy page which will be featured for the next 3 months.  I was really excited about this as it is one of favourite magazines.  I started buying Cent Magazine when I was studying at Chelsea Collage of Art and Design doing my degree and used to always dream of doing some sort of work with them........and finally that day has arrived!! It's such a lovely magazine to buy so if you haven't you must go and get one...my favourite issue of all time was the Betty Jackson issue which has amazing illustrations in it . It is still available to purchase on their website so if you don't have it go and buy it!

New Work

©gemmsmithdesign
At the moment I seem to be unbelievably busy. I have a big project on designing fashion prints for a high street label so getting time do draw some new illustrations is very hard at the moment.  However this project should be done by Monday so I can get back to drawing and can start posting my new works!

Until then this is a picture I drew two weeks ago which I have yet to share with everyone.  I've been working a lot of text into my illustrations recently and so far I think I quite like the results.  I hope you do too.

Guess The Film

I have again been so busy over the weekend. Currently trying to work on a massive print design project for a fashion company as well as trying to get my own illustrations done.  There are just not enough hours in the day.

I'm currently working on a series of illustrations that take inspiration from some of my favourite films.  I like sometimes to play with different mediums when I illustrate and with this one I have used fabric foils and and plastics.  This is the first of my works in progress for this so I hope you like.....

I wonder if you can guess which film this comes from?.....

So today I got to spend the day with my lovely boyfriend.  He has taken the day off work so it has been really lovely having him around the house.....albeit I have still been working and drawing. But at least I have someone to to keep making me cups of tea! Each day I want to try and post an illustration that depicts the mood of my day so today undoubtably has to be based on love.........I hope you enjoy!  If you want to see more of my illustrations then come take a look at my website

Amelia's Magazine Illustration

So yesterday I drew a little illustration for the amazing online magazine Amelia's Magazine  If you have never had the pleasure of seeing it before you should definitely check it out!  The illustration I drew was part of a series of Illustrations for a review on Hilum by Les Antliclastes.  It is an amazing puppetry performance being performed at the ICA as part of the London International Mime Festival 2011.   I really enjoyed drawing this little creature. This is the first illustration I have done for Amelia's Magazine and I hope it's the first of many more.
